Cathedral Cove
About a 90 Hike - But well worth it!

Hike to Cathedral Cove - very scenic hike, along the coast with fantastic views!
But more on that later
Lets start at the beginning

We are pretty stressed waiting and flying
- one of the keys to great travel, relax and go with the flow -
Debbie has everything planned and very organized for a trip (I would venture to say more planned then anybody else on the planet - which is good), but things are going to change and we go with the flow.

Debbie does a great job with our seat selection!

Normally books toward the back of  seat class (everybody normally books toward the front of a class)
Books a Window and an Aisle (most people will not book a center seat between people)
In this case an exit row with no seats in front of us.  (most people won't book it because no under seat storage, but for a long flight we just get our bags down and leave them right in front of us, also makes a great foot rest.)
If it is a full flight this does not work - one of us then moved to the center seat - no big deal.
Normally works out great for us, like this time.
The guy behind wanted to get into the photo 😊

Auckland Airport Entrance is Spectacular!

Road Trip in New Zealand
Drive to Whitianga on the Coromandel Peninsula
Practicing our Left Lane Driving through the Mountains to the Coast.

Wow this will do - What a beach.
The parking lot is just a nicely manicured lawn.

Stay at Whitianga and exploring the area
View from our Balcony

Fantastic Morning Run on the Beach

Breakfast on the Balcony, it is close to the road, but not a busy road
 - Wonderful! -

One of the highlights is Cathedral Cove - very scenic hike & beach

Lake Taupo Area
Glacier River, Beautiful Color of Water
We spent a lot of time here just enjoying the river and the color of the water - Amazing!

Still working on Good Selfie's (if there is such a thing)
maybe some day we will get a good one.
Maybe it is a problem with the subjects 😏

Geothermal Area
We defiantly wanted to go here
Because of Craters of the Moon in Idaho
But this is more like Yellowstone then Idaho Craters of the Moon.
Like most everything in New Zealand we have seen designed for walking and hiking

Time to sample a great selection Ginger Beer this country has to offer.
I had only had Ginger Beer one time before in New Hampshire, but here every brew pub we went to had it on the menu - so I drank almost no beer, but just ginger beer - every one was great - If you like ginger - which I do.
Debbie stuck with Coke and Pepsi as normal.

Waiheke Island
After the Ginger Beer off to an island with lots of Vineyards

Waiheke Island was recommended by the flight attendant on the plane, along with Charlie Farleys Restaurant / Bar.  As his favorite place to go around Auckland.  His jump seat on the plane was right in front of us, so we talked whenever he was seated - very nice person - like most people we meet when traveling.

Ordered some Hot Chocolate
Came as frothy milk and a block of chocolate
A kind of build your own Hot Chocolate
It was really really good and lots of fun!

Well off to Nadi, Fiji
We really liked the Flight information
"Relax"
Great advice when you are headed to a tropical island

The Resort Debbie found is on an island so about a 3 minute boat ride from the parking lot to the Hotel Lobby - Great!

Travel Note:
It is always important to look at reviews, but also to see if any negative reviews are things you care about, one bad review for this place was that the 3 minute boat ride was a major problem for someone where we thought is was special - also they took care of your luggage and the wait for the boat was always under 5 minutes as it just ran back and forth all the time.

Wow a big bungalow on the beach!
View from our Porch!

As I say all the time - I have the world's best travel agent - My wife - Debbie!
Only about $95 also - wow!

I had some work to do for the office (no more I am now retired)
and below working on the ski patrol schedule.
What a place and setting to have to work from, rough huh 😎

Took a ferry boat to several neighboring islands
Getting some beach time.

The Water was not really clear
As they always say - should have been here yesterday - 😎

Bill & Debbie Snorkeling

When it rains it really rains
But we are just watching it from our deck

The time always come to go home and back to week
Now that we are retired,
not back to work and the trips are a lot longer

Our Morning Flight - Rum Punch's for us.
Lucky enough to be in First Class
Must be 5:00 O'clock somewhere 😏

Our last sunset from our room at the Auckland Airport

Another Trip Ends
